SWTOR: Roleplaying a Jedi Sage Consular

It’s been longer than I’d like since I last posted here. And aside from leaving my blogging itch unscratched, it’s left a gap in my in-game activities log.

I’m rectifying that now, because I recently roleplayed a Star Wars character, and it was a fun experiment.

Previously, I wrote about starting Star Wars: The Old Republic (SWTOR) again as a Sith Warrior. But soon after that post, I abandoned her for the same reason as my Sith Inquisitor: The game’s Imperial characters are despicable. Both Sith and Imperial military are these comically-evil, machiavellian colonialist types. And all with snooty British accents to boot. Faff off.

Desiring more palatable characters, I opted to play a Republic Jedi Sage. And like before, I took some time to craft a backstory for her. SWTOR and I must’ve been in sync, because upon entering the character creation menu, the game generated a character appearance very close to what I’d envisioned: A meek but powerful young woman with steely eyes. I made some tweaks, and we were off to the races.

Searching for an MMO Home: Success

After sampling four different MMORPGs over the last two months, I think I’ve found the game for me: Star Wars The Old Republic. I’ve paid my “mortgage” (subscription fees), and with a lightsaber at my side, I’m ready to move in.

SWTOR: Winning a Rare Prize at the Nar Shadda Nightlife Event

I last wrote about my Sith Warrior’s fortuitous first steps in SWTOR. I procured a good look for her in the character creator, a spiffy outfit thanks to a generous guildmate, and I even thought up a half-decent backstory.

All was going well in-game. But I was not prepared for the lucky break that would follow.

Searching for an MMO Home: Star Wars The Old Republic

At this point, my search for a new MMO home has become a series on this blog. That should tell you how well the process is going.

So far, I’ve checked out Lord of the Rings Online and, just last week, Champions Online. While both titles are enjoyable, they don’t seem like digital worlds I want to inhabit long-term. I’m looking for a place to sow seeds — y’know, meet a woman, start a family… err, moving on!

Star Wars The Old Republic (SWTOR) is my next MMO home candidate. Last year, I got a hankering for Star Wars and spent a couple of months firmly engrossed by SWTOR. And more recently, watching a Twitch streamer play the game piqued my interest. Which raised the question: Why did I quit SWTOR?
